Introducing the Utopia Night Sky

A close-up shot of a skeleton watch with a black strap worn on a wrist. The watch has a clear crystal case showing intricate gold and silver mechanical gears and a black leather strap.

Utopia was never just a name.

A utopia begins with imagining something beyond what already exists.

For us, that became a design question:

What if a mechanical chronograph did not have to follow the expected rules?

The first 1963 Utopia answered by reversing one of watchmaking’s most familiar conventions.

Most watches present the dial to the world and hide the movement behind it.

Utopia did the opposite.

The Seagull ST1901 mechanical chronograph movement became the outward-facing side of the watch.

The dial moved closer to the wearer.

The movement faces the world.
The dial faces the wearer.

First production run: only 500 individually numbered watches.

WHAT DARKNESS REVEALS WAS ALWAYS THERE.

The inward facing matte black dial carries luminous Arabic numerals, hands and the signature five-point star.

When the light fades.

The numerals begin to glow.

The hands become visible.

The star emerges.

Nothing has appeared that was not there before.

Darkness simply allows you to see it differently.

The stars were there all along.

THE MOVEMENT BECOMES THE FACE.

At the mechanical heart of Night Sky sits the manually wound Seagull ST1901 column-wheel chronograph.

Rather than hiding it behind the dial, Utopia makes it part of the outward-facing design.

The movement beats at 21,600 beats per hour, uses 21 jewels and incorporates a swan-neck regulator, with approximately 42 hours of power reserve.

For Night Sky, the familiar RED STAR marking on the movement bridge gives way to:

UTOPIA.

A small change.

But an important one.

This movement does not simply power the watch.

It is part of its identity.

FAQ

Are shipping, import duties and taxes included?

Yes. All import duties and taxes are covered by us worldwide. The price you pay at checkout is the final price.

Can I return or exchange my watch?

Yes, you have 14 days from the delivery date to exercise their right of withdrawal and request a refund or exchange.

The watch must be in its unused, original condition, and packaging and must be returned within 14 days of notifying us of the decision to return the items.

You can find more information on our Terms and conditions page or by contacting us at contact@seagull1963.live.

Is the Utopia Night Sky a numbered edition?

Yes. The Utopia Night Sky is an evergreen model, not a limited edition. However, each Utopia Night Sky is hand-assembled piece by piece, with its unusual two-sided construction requiring considerably more work than a conventional chronograph.

That is why the first production run consists of just 500 individually numbered watches. Once they’re allocated, those numbers are gone for good.

Which movement powers the Utopia Night Sky?

The Utopia Night Sky is powered by the Seagull ST1901 manual-wind column-wheel chronograph movement, featuring 21 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 beats per hour, a swan-neck regulator and approximately 42 hours of power reserve.

Is there warranty cover?

Every Utopia Night Sky includes a 2-year worldwide warranty against manufacturing defects, valid from the original date of purchase.

Want longer-lasting protection? Extend your warranty to 10 years for just €29.95.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Yes, provided your order has not yet been shipped. You have a 12-hour grace period to request a cancellation or change your delivery address before the product is shipped.

40 MM. TWO SIDES. ONE IDEA.

The Utopia Night Sky is housed in a larger 40 mm 316L stainless-steel case, with a compact 46 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 13.7 mm thickness. The larger 40 mm case and compact lug-to-lug allows the watch to accommodate both large and small wrists comfortably.

Boxed sapphire crystal protects the watch, while 5 ATM water resistance supports everyday wear.

A 20 mm genuine black leather strap completes the darker Night Sky character.

SEE THE NIGHT SKY

BEFORE CLOCKS, WE LOOKED UP.

Long before mechanical watches existed, people looked towards the sky to understand time.

The recurring movement of the sun, moon and stars helped humanity recognise passing hours, seasons and direction.

The Night Sky does not attempt to reproduce that sky literally.

Instead, it draws from something more fundamental:
the instinct to look into darkness and discover time there.

Mechanical time on one side.

Something far older on the other.

ONE SIDE FOR THE WORLD. ONE SIDE FOR YOU.

The Utopia philosophy continues beyond the reversed architecture.

Around the dial-facing side, every watch carries the words:

1963 Utopia – because time is only yours – [individual number]

The movement is the side presented to everyone else.

The dial stays closer.

And the number belongs to one watch.

Yours.

FAQ

How does the individual numbering work?

Every Utopia Night Sky receives its own individual number. Around the dial-facing side, each watch carries the inscription “1963 Utopia – because time is only yours – [individual number]”.

The first production run consists of 500 individually numbered watches.

How do I wind the utopia, and how often does it need winding?

The ST1901 is a manual-wind mechanical movement. When the watch is fully unwound, turn the crown clockwise approximately 25–30 times. As resistance increases, stop winding rather than forcing the crown.

A full wind provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve, so regular winding is part of owning and enjoying the watch.

What if my watch arrives damaged or isn’t working properly?

Every watch undergoes thorough quality-control checks before dispatch, so this is highly unlikely. If there is an issue, we’ll cover the full cost of a replacement or return to ensure you receive a fully functioning watch.

Does the Utopia Night Sky have lume?

Yes. The matte black dial features luminous numerals, hands and a five-point star. During daylight, the luminous elements remain restrained. As darkness falls, they become increasingly visible, revealing the Night Sky’s second character.

What size is the Utopia Night Sky?

The Utopia Night Sky has a 40 mm case diameter, 46 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 13.7 mm thickness, with a 20 mm lug width. The case is made from 316L stainless steel and is fitted with boxed  sapphire crystal.

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED. UNIQUELY YOURS.

Turn the watch over and one final detail makes it unmistakably yours.

Around the dial-facing side, every Utopia Night Sky carries the inscription:

“1963 Utopia – because time is only yours – [individual number]”

A permanent number belonging to that watch alone.

Each Utopia Night Sky is hand-assembled piece by piece, with its unusual two-sided construction requiring considerably more work than a conventional chronograph.

That is why the first production run consists of just 500 individually numbered watches.

Once they’re allocated, those numbers are gone for good.

500 watches. 500 numbers. One chance to own one of the first.
